Jeff Kobs shows the ash on his face after the slide. You can’t see the other pebbles in the ears, nose, hair, …. but clearly the smile says it all.
Descent!
Just like Wily Coyote and Roadrunner, a dust trail follows behind the boarder flying down the face.
Before the slide
Group photo at the top before we take the plunge down the volcano face.
Jefeito relaxing Nicaraguan style
Pat enjoys a cigar and beer at the end of the last day of surgery. Tonight we party!
Cathedral in the evening
One of the many cathedrals. This was a beautiful rose color, with Jesus and the thieves on crosses in the entrance. Pictures don’t do justice to the colors.
Relajarse
Kathy and Jeff Kobs, Grace, and Gayle relax and chat after a day in the hospital
Canciones
After an incredible welcome appetizers, drinks, and fantastico dinner at their home, all prepared al fresco, Drs. Delgado (she is anesthesia, and he internal medicine toxicology) serenaded us with flamenco tradicional Nicaraguan ballades and songs, and then their daughters also sang for us! Wow. It was an unforgettable evening of hospitality, friendship, and delicious food! Me encanta!
Bombas
A Balloon can bring comfort and a smile to a child in Nicaragua just like in the US.
Ankle ORIF
Dr. Kobs places a 6 hole plate and screws in a 180 kg patient with a distal bimalleolar ankle fracture. He got a sciatic saphenous block for post op pain with the Sonivate probe and a 4 inch needle by Dr. Pancoast assisted by Mike Flores. It was a grande leg!
graffitti
This graffiti across the street from the hospital entrance was heartwarming. “Thank you Hospital and Doctors” and “Christ” beneath it.
